Foundation Course: Vocal Prehabilitation

Duration: One-day course Format: Online or in person

Gain an understanding of how the voice works and how it may be affected by age-related change. This course will teach you how to pre-condition your voice to prepare it for age-related changes, to sing with maximum efficiency and minimal effort, and to maintain vocal functionality for years to come.

The best time to protect your voice is before you notice any decline. This course is designed for singers who want to strengthen their instrument proactively, building resilience, flexibility, and coordination so that age-related changes have far less impact when they do occur.

Intermediate & Advanced Courses: Vocal Habilitation

Format: Online or in person

Vocal habilitation is the deliberate process of developing, optimising, and fortifying your voice. The intention is to achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency, sustainability, and vocal health. These courses are concerned with enhancing technique, improving vocal function, preventing injury, and building a stronger, more resilient voice that lasts.

Habilitation is about making good technique second nature, so that healthy vocal habits are deeply established and consistently applied across everything you sing.

Conductor’s Course: Understanding the Ageing Voice

Format: Online or in person

Developing an understanding of how the voice operates is essential, particularly when considering the changes that can occur as a result of ageing.

By learning about the mechanics of the voice and the specific challenges that older singers may encounter, you’ll be better prepared to guide your choir through the musical demands placed upon them. This preparation ensures that each member can sing with maximum efficiency, minimising unnecessary effort and helping to preserve vocal health.

Additionally, understanding the intricacies of the voice allows you to refine and shape the choir’s overall sound, honing both tonal and timbral qualities to achieve your desired musical outcome.
